Hello and a warm welcome!
I’m Peta, and I’m thrilled to be joining Lee Tan, the founder of Well+Being. Dunedin is truly lucky to have someone as passionate and inspiring as Lee, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to work alongside her. Her vision for helping people lead healthier, more vibrant lives deeply resonates with me. I’m looking forward to being part of a team that empowers individuals on their wellness journeys.
With 24 years experience as a Registered Nurse and 16 years as a Nutritionist and Naturopath, I’ve had the privilege of working in both conventional and holistic healthcare. My family and I recently moved to New Zealand from Australia for a more balanced lifestyle. We are grateful to be living in this beautiful country, surrounded by fresh air, clean water, and a temperate climate—perfect for our new chapter!
I believe in the importance of both traditional and modern medicine. As a Registered Nurse, I’ve worked in acute care settings like post-anaesthetics (currently) and intensive care, where I’ve witnessed the life-saving power of Western medicine. At the same time, as a Naturopath and Nutritionist, I understand the limits of the conventional, ‘mechanistic’ approach, especially when it comes to optimal wellness and managing chronic conditions. True health goes beyond just the absence of disease—it's about balancing physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
In my practice, I integrate both conventional and holistic approaches to support my clients. Whether you’re managing a chronic condition or aiming to optimise your health, I take a comprehensive, personalised approach, addressing all aspects of your lifestyle, environment, and unique health needs.
My areas of specialty include women’s health, autoimmune conditions, adrenal support, thyroid health, hormone balance, menopause, fertility, sleep issues, and digestive/gut health. I’m particularly passionate about helping clients find balance and achieve their health goals in these areas.
In our consultations, I review:
Your health history – to understand your background and any past health concerns
Vital signs – including blood pressure, pulse, blood sugar levels, and pulse oximetry (if you’re comfortable) etc
Lifestyle factors – such as stress, sleep, exercise, and emotional health
Nutrition – as diet is central to health
Environment – how your surroundings may impact your well-being
Pathology review – please bring any relevant test results or medical records
I also work with Awanui Labs and Nutripath for more comprehensive testing if we require it for example:
Full cholesterol profile
Homocysteine testing
Thyroid panels (including Reverse T3, antibiodies)
Vitamin D levels
Microbiome/Digestive health analysis
Cortisol and hormone panels
These tests give us a deeper understanding of your internal health, allowing us to tailor a plan that meets your specific needs.
I also enjoy collaborating with your existing healthcare team, whether that's your GP or specialists, to ensure we’re all working together to support your health.
I’m passionate about traditional naturopathic practices like healthy sun exposure, earthing (connecting with the Earth’s energy), and natural light. These practices are key to supporting both physical and mental health. In our work together, I’ll help you incorporate these simple yet powerful strategies, along with ways to manage modern challenges like stress and artificial light, so you can enjoy a balanced and sustainable approach to your health.
I look forward to supporting you in achieving your wellness goals. Whether you’re looking to improve your health, manage a condition, or boost your vitality, I’m here to guide and empower you every step of the way.
Warmly,
Peta
